There has been a hubbub of shipyard activity recently, but only one ship is far enough along to be floated out this Sunday on August 12th. The Celebrity Reflection is under final preparation for her short repositioning from the enclosed warehouse where she has been constructed to the finishing dock just outside at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
When I saw her at the shipyard in January, she was only half complete, missing her forward bow, and still very much in pieces. While the forward half of the vessel was fully erected in height, she had yet to see her midship to stern assembled as you can see in the photos I took included in the body of this article. But now she is fully painted and complete from stem to stern and ready for finishing work to her interior spaces. Celebrity just released the beautiful image shown in the header above on their Facebook page, and increased anticipation for her future career is sure to follow.
Having sailed on her oldest sisters, Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox, and now having seen Celebrity Reflection under construction, I am so excited to witness the birth of this ship which is scheduled to set sail in October of 2012.
