Last weekend, the long and storied career of the gorgeous Schooner Zodiac was celebrated with a 90th Birthday Bash that included free tours of the ship at her berth in Bellingham, Washington and an afternoon sail that stretched well into the evening.
Lovingly maintained by Captain Tim Mehrer and his crew, fans of the Zodiac (including yours truly) flock to this ship each year to participate in evening sails or full-blown, multi-night trips. How badly to people fall in love with this vessel? Many of her current crew of volunteers first interacted with her as guests, while others are sailing veterans despite only being in their early 20’s.
Port Captain Chris Wallace was kind enough to send us two photos she took from her own vessel of the Zodiac underway, and we’ve included some of our own favorite photos of this stunning schooner!
You can view the Zodiac’s entire 2014 itinerary by clicking here, along with details of their multi-night themed voyages that include brewery tours, vineyard visits, and even a special musical cruise this August featuring San Francisco-based singer Forest Sun. The Schooner Zodiac is celebrating this particular itinerary by letting guests take 90 bucks off their fare in honor of the Zodiac’s 90 years of sailing!
