The Crystal Serenity from Crystal Cruises is a beautiful, white floating metropolis at sea. It offers all of the comforts of home with unlimited pampering while taking her guests to new and exciting destinations.
While onboard diverse activities abound. There are the usual types of activities offered such as bingo, card playing, tea time and a well stocked library. But with Crystal, learning is foremost with classes teaching foreign languages, bridge playing, dancing, computers and a USC class on iPad movie making, as well as needle craft and photography classes.
And Crystal is the only cruise line that offers its guests the Visions Enrichment Program. This series features in depth lectures covering topics from memory aids, port talks, and political history and elections, to the neuroscience of sleep.
While not every cruise has a theme, this one did. There were culinary lectures focusing on beer and food pairings complete with beer and food samplings.
Physical activities also are ever present with cycling, weight lifting, golf lessons and yoga classes, as well as organized walks around the complete promenade deck. A well equipped gym offers every type of equipment imaginable to help the guests burn off those extra calories from all of those delectable desserts and the complimentary Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
If “Serenity” type relaxation is more your speed, than the spa is the place for you. Pampering is available in several forms from massages, facials and even acupuncture in a beautiful stress-free setting.
A non-smoking casino lets all of the guests try their luck at gambling while breathing in clean air at the same time, a nice change of pace from most casinos at sea. Crystal’s entertainment is without a doubt some of the best at sea featuring shows complete with Broadway quality singers and dancers with live orchestral backup. Headliner acts showcase individual musicians and comedians sure to please anyone’s taste. But all of these forms of entertainment are true winners!
A wonderful gift to me are the many great areas of the ship in which to merely sit and read, play cards, knit or just look out at the beautiful blue seas with its cresting whitecaps!
One of the best things about cruising is the chance to reconnect with your spouse or other family members. Being away from the hustle and bustle of daily life allows us all the time to communicate in an unhurried and relaxed setting. Activities aside, this is the best part of cruising in my opinion.
And for my family and I, Crystal has the best staff at sea! No matter which type of crew member you interact with, they are all so extraordinarily friendly, courteous and ever helpful, smiling and often calling each guest by name. As these crew members stay on for many years, they become like family members to the passengers (some who have even sailed as many as 300 times) who return again and again to enjoy all that Crystal Cruises has to offer!
