The Norwegian Getaway (pictured in the header above) from Norwegian Cruise Line has arrived at her year-round homeport of Miami, Florida. After following the new cruise ship’s entire construction progress, we’re excited to see her christened just days ago at a star-studded event.
Co-host of Dancing with the Stars, Brooke Burke-Charvet, was master-of-ceremonies, and performers around the ship were Tito Puente Jr. at Spice H2O, D’Angelo & Amanda of America’s Got Talent at the pool deck, DJ Tracey Young and the Trendtracker Tara Gilani at the atrium and Pitpull with a big finish back at Spice H2O. Celebrity attendees – Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, Buddy Valastro of TLC’s Cake Boss and hull-artist David “LEBO” Le Batard – watched on as the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders christened the ship.
“Miami’s ship is home and we couldn’t be more proud to bring this spectacular vessel to this electric city,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer. “We thank Miami-Dade County for this warm welcome and the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders for christening this beautiful ship and are looking forward to a very successful inaugural season.”
