Quantum of the Seas Construction Update – Photo & Video Tour

Royal Caribbean International just finished announcing the expansive list of dining options that will be available on the upcoming Quantum of the Seas, and the ship itself just completed its initial assembly at the shipyard. The final building block was hoisted into place at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany (as seen above) on April 1, 2014, which is an amazing feat considering just weeks prior, the scene appeared much different (as seen below).

Meyer Werft builds its ships assembly line-style with one-and-a-half ship lengths of space available in building dock II of the facility. The stern half of Quantum of the Seas was already complete from keel to superstructure, but the ship ahead of her had to “getaway” before Quantum‘s last preassembled blocks (seen in the foreground in the image above) could be swiftly swung into place.

Prior to the installation of the navigational bridge, other signature areas of the ship were well underway like Two70° and Seaplex. The massive letters for the ship’s name were also being applied in preparation. You can see details of these ship sections above and below as well as watch videos from Royal Caribbean International showcasing the construction process and safety training.
